We believe that this update will improve our customers' experience with AutoCAD Architectural Desktop R2i. Please read the information below to take best advantage of this service pack. =================================== Who Should Install the Service Pack =================================== This readme applies to the English locked and unlocked versions of AutoCAD Architectural Desktop R2i. This Service Pack should not be installed on other versions of AutoCAD or AutoCAD Desktop Applications. You should also review the "Summary of AutoCAD Architectural Desktop R2i Service Pack Fixes" section of this document to see if any problems that you are having with your AutoCAD product are resolved by this service pack. ========================= General Usage Information ========================= There is no uninstall routine for the AutoCAD Architectural Desktop R2i Service Pack. It is strongly recommended that you back up all files that the service pack installs so that you can restore AutoCAD Architectural Desktop R2i to its previous state if needed. After the update, your User Profile will be switched to , and the acad.mnu, acad.mns, acad.mnr, acad.mnl, and acad.mnc files may be recompiled. Any toolbar or menu customizations that were part of user profile could be lost. You can easily switch back to the named profile after the update. To ensure that you can restore your menu settings later, however, be sure to archive all your menu files before the update. See "Important File Backup Information" below. The Show on Start option in Active Assistance also is reset after an update. All other options set in the Active Assistance Settings dialog box are retained. Download progress may not be indicated during the update. If you would like to control the update notification in your office and you have disabled the notifications, you can use the AutoCAD Today page Bulletin Board. =============================================================== Summary of AutoCAD Architectural Desktop R2i Service Pack Fixes =============================================================== AutoCAD Architectural Desktop Today and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 Issues: The display of multiple windows when attempting to use Register Today with MSIE 5.5 has been resolved. Point A Banner graphics now are displayed with Windows 9x when not connected to the Web. AutoCAD Architectural Desktop Today no longer freezes when certain settings are active on a firewall. Blank buttons are no longer displayed on the Windows task bar after a new drawing is opened. AutoCAD Architectural Desktop Today no longer hides the Select File dialog. The inability to connect to Point A in Today with certain proxy server settings has been resolved. Active Assistance Issues: Active Assistance problems that caused system lockup in Windows 98 have been resolved. Active Assistance no longer interferes with Microsoft Outlook . Dimensioning Issues: The appearance of dimension geometry is no longer affected by the use of unrelated commands. Plotting Issues: DWF files are no longer corrupted when you plot multiple layouts. MTEXT Issues: MTEXT underline problems with Windows 2000 have been resolved. Miscellaneous Issues: Old-style API calls for file navigation now work properly. Trimming to blocks with certain objects no longer makes AutoCAD fail. Trimming or extending to a group of lightweight polylines and blocks no longer crashes AutoCAD. The File Transfer dialog box now gets dismissed for local files and no longer fails on exit. Add-on ARX applications (such as AecObjExplode) will no longer require any registry editing in order to make them work properly. Other minor defects fixed by this service pack are not listed. ======================================= Live Update Network Deploy Instructions ======================================= On network-deployed AutoCAD installations, there will be no Live Update notification on the Point A portion of the AutoCAD Today page. As a result, an update will have to be downloaded from the Point A site using an Internet browser and then manually applied at each workstation by double-clicking the update file. During an update, AutoCAD should not be running on any of the client machines. If any client stations have AutoCAD running during an update, the installation image on the server might be corrupted. It is also strongly recommended that you apply the update to the administrator machine first. (This is computer from which the network deployment was installed). Once the update on the administrator machine is completed, start applying the update on client systems. You must apply an update to each client machine before running AutoCAD. During an update, you are prompted for the original installation CD or network image. Make sure that each computer is connected to the network location where the install image resides. After you have applied an update to the network image, you need to apply an update to each newly created client you set up. ================================= Important File Backup Information ================================= There is no uninstall routine for the AutoCAD Architectural Desktop R2i Service Pack. It is strongly recommended that you back up all files that the service pack installs so that you can restore AutoCAD Architectural Desktop R2i to its previous state if needed. Depending on the product and the type of installation, files on your system may vary. When you subsequently uninstall AutoCAD Architectural Desktop R2i, there may be some desktop icons that remain, particularly in the case of Server based network installations. These should be deleted.
